First 50 miles felt great so Jeff and I decided to carry on to Sebree where the kiwis were staying. Started to struggle the last 15 miles but powered on with the help of peanut butter and cherry m&m's.
At our lunch stop in Utica, we were eating outside the petrol station, and a guy started chatting to us about our trip. Turned out he is a local artist who had been commissioned to produce artwork for the counties bicentennial commemoration. He asked us if we would be hanging around for a while, which we were, and he drove back to his studio to get some small prints and wooden nickels (often used for commemoration tokens) to take with us!

We rescued our first turtle today. We see a lot of these swished along the road. This one seemed to be traveling along the road (bad idea!), rather than across, so didn't know which side to put him on!
Staying at Sebree First Baptist Church tonight. This place is a bit of a legend on this part of the TransAm. Violet and Bill host cyclists in the church, and I vote them over for a HUGE slap up meal with huge portions of home cooked food. While this is definitely the best of this type of accommodation I've stayed in, they've all been similar. I'm not really slumming it!
