Woke up to misty rain with everything soaked. My suggestion of crawling back into our tents was met with a disapproving look from Jim so I cracked on with breaking camp. It should have been a big clue that we were being stupid that the french couple, who were biking the Pacific coast, hadn't even peeked out their tent by the time we were ready to leave. But we pressed on instantly regretting it. It took about 12 miles from Neil we found a restaurant to bail at. After a really long second breakfast the mist had cleared and we were ready to hit the road again in beautiful blue skies.
All the photo of the Pacific coast cycle ride look like those below. It sure is pretty, when you can see it, bit most of the time it's hidden behind beach front houses. The road is busy with RV traffic and in places there isn't much if a shoulder to ride on. The traffic noise is always really loud. I did think that I would like to ride the Pacific coast route sometime, but this has changed my mind. Too busy, too loud, a bit scary and the views are not there lo g enough to make it worthwhile.

Crossing bridges and going through tunnels is interesting. You have to press a button before entering which sets off warning lights to driver that cyclists are on bridge/in tunnel. They stay on long enough for you to get through if you travel at 10mph. Not good on bridges like this when you may only be doing 7mph on the uphill, then there's no downhill to make up the time!
Caught these little critters hanging around our campsite! They had a look of "what me?! No, I'm not trying to steal your food!"
