Riding into Pueblo definetly felt like a celebration. They were easy miles with well spaced rest stops and a light tail wind. We'd arranged a Warmshowers stay with Mike, who was fantastic. He's only been listed for 3 weeks and has already had 17 cyclists through. He genuinely seems to love hosting us. We got to here a bit of other people's ttrips and setups, which made me realise that the issues I have with my bike, really aren't so bad! One kid riding the TransAm had his rack zip tied to his seat post, not sure that that's the best solution, but if it works, it's easy to keep spares! One guy had had 20 punctures in 17 days, ouch! Mike was a brilliant ambassador for Pueblo and took us out on a mini tour and showed us the good places to eat.
On our rest day, we didn't really get much rest. Chores need to be done. I knew I had problems with my front brake, no one could get new pads in, so I took it to Vances bike shop. I had quite a list of things for them to look at! Ended up with a new front brake, getting the bottom bracket cleaned out again as the click had come back (last remains of the KATY trail I think) getting my wheel trued, putting air in tyres and general check over for any other signs of wear. They only charged me for brake pad replacement and the brake itself, awesome! Vances even gave me his mobile number in case any of us had problems between Pueblo and our next stop. Great shop, they're a bit off the main route but definetly worth heading to.
