Got started really early to beat the heat. My bike disc developed a very loud click on each pedal stroke, checked the bottom bracket and it had somehow become loose. Because of the gravelly dusty surface we're riding on, all sorts of nasty stuff could have got inside so needed to get this sorted ASAP. Stopped at a trail side service place where it was clear, this wasn't the place for anything more than basic adjustments. I got them to tighten up the bottom bracket though and decided to push on further than planned so that i could be in Sedalia for 10am the next day, as they looked to have a good bike shop.
Photo below shows the hostel at Tebbets and a very strange convenience shop we stopped at. Apparently, selling only Snickers and Gatorade qualifies you as a convenience shop....

Camping at Pilot Grove was in the city Park where we could clean off and cool down in the outdoor pool. Brett was also camping here. He's walkingwalking across America with his gorgeous 2 year old dog called Domino. She has to where booties during the day because the pavement is too hot for her paws, she hates them! And if it gets too much, Brett pushes her in the cart.
