I got up at reasonable time, had breakfast and left campsite for the ferry. Turns out I probably should have read the schedule as I'd just missed one at 9.05 and the next one wasn't until 11.50. Damn! Still, I was in no rush as the island is only 40 miles around with the campsite on the opposite side of the island, making for a short ride.
When I got into Friday Harbor, I was checking my map when someone tapped me on the shoulder, turns out it was the guy I camped with in Springfield, Kentucky. He remembered me because I had a pizza strapped to the back of my bike! He'd gone a different route, cutting up to the northern tier and was also still bike touring!
I stopped in at English Camp on my way round the north of the island, the only place they officially fly a union jack.
Campground was full of hiker bikers, loads were touring with kids too. One guy had a son attached on a tow along bike with his smaller daughter being towed in a buggy! Ouch, that's gotta be heavy, and I can't imagine the young son was contributing much!
