First distance covered in a car!
Drove up to Olympic, stopping off to load up with groceries etc, and headed straight to the Ranger station for info, they reckoned that our intended campsite would already be full and suggested a remote one with some little known "walk in" sites which are pretty hidden so you have to know to look for them. Thankyou to that Ranger lady, we knew they were there and still only found one of the eleven walk-ins! Still it meant we were away from the rest of the car campers and RVs so worked out well. Beautiful site next to a stream. I pitched my tent, but think it was on a bad spot, when I went to bed I had 2 large buzzing flies/wasp looking things between inner tent and tarp. They were huge, yuck! Within an hour there was about 10 of them making a racket and I could see the tent flapping from them hitting the material. They all seemed to be coming in from one side, so timed my escape out the tent and dragged my tent away. Did not want one of them getting into my tent!
The Ranger also suggested the Pete's Creek/Colonel Bob trail which we did the next morning. We were warned it was steep, but wow, that hurt! Going up was not too bad, hiking down was really tough. But the views were gorgeous. Sorry about the overload of photos, but their all so good!
After the hike we ate some lunch and found me a campsite. Then the inevitable goodbyes. Glad they were quick and I had chores to do like putting tent up to keep my mind off it. Nice campsite too.
